The Fulfilling of Scripture

Those of us who grew up in the 1980’s and before are seeing the fulfillment of prophecy once thought impossible. We would sit in Bible study classes and hear the words of Jesus as He described the End Times. As we studied the Book of Revelation, we wondered how the things we had read would come to pass. We didn’t doubt it, just wondered how, and took it by faith that it would come to pass. Today, our faith is becoming sight.

Rise of Lawlessness and the Loss of Love.

In Matthew 24, Jesus said that because iniquity abounds, the love of many would grow cold. We have wondered what this meant. We are gaining more understanding every day. As we observe the events unfolding in our world, we see this verse being fulfilled with increasing intensity. The news has reported stories of people walking up and knocking out people for no reason other than entertainment. There are stories of individuals who have had their identities stolen or become victims of scams and fraud.

Why is this happening? It is because lawlessness is everywhere. Accountability has been removed from schools, so there is no longer any respect for law and order. Cities have stopped prosecuting criminals for certain crimes. They even allow people out of jail without bail shortly after being arrested.

The Isolation of Israel

The Books of Joel, Ezekiel, Zechariah, and Revelation speak of a time when Israel will be hated by and isolated from the rest of the world. It will be a time when Israel will stand alone with no allies to help her but God. A few decades ago, we did not know how this could happen. Surely, America, a godly nation, would stand by her. Today, we understand. Israel was attacked on October 7, 2023, and it was vilified for fighting back. Jewish temples are attacked, Jewish students are harassed on college campuses, and a Jewish lady was set on fire. Almost daily, the news reports on the rise of antisemitism in the world. The ICC even issued an arrest warrant for Prime Minister Netanyahu. People are proudly flying Palestinian flags.

Celebrating the death of God’s people.

Revelation 11 speaks of the martyrdom of the two witnesses of God. Verse 9 reads in part, “peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days….” We took this to mean that people all over the world would see their bodies at the same time. Until the advent of CNN, we did not know how this could be accomplished. With the Internet, and the ubiquity of cell phones, we understand how things can be seen live all over the world. This was most evident with the martyrdom of Charlie Kirk, whose murder was viewed live by millions at one time.

The more shocking part comes in the next verse. “And those who dwell upon the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another….” We wondered if people would really throw parties and exchange gifts to celebrate someone’s murder? Again, we witnessed the precursor to this at the martyrdom of Kirk. People were celebrating across the internet and on social media platforms.

These signs are confirmation that we are living in the last of the last days.
